Christie is a registered nurse who has been practicing in Calgary for 15 years. In addition to a decade of acute and community mental health experience, Christie has also practiced in labour and delivery, pediatric intensive care, and pediatric emergency. Christie completed her masters degree in Nursing in 2016, and is a certified clinical counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Christie has advanced training and certification in perinatal mental health and EMDR. She incorporates mindful self compassion, CBT, DBT and narrative therapy in her work with clients.

Christie’s interest in perinatal mental health was sparked after working as a registered nurse in labour and delivery, and after having her two children. After experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts firsthand, Christie sought additional training and experience in order to help others experiencing the same distress.

Christie believes in a personal and individual approach to therapy. She strives to create an inclusive and trauma-informed space for all individuals. She can assist with the following concerns:

Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Intrusive Thoughts, Birth/pregnancy anxiety, Processing birth trauma, Processing and thriving in times of transition, Couples and family conflict, Parenting struggles and anxiety, Navigating transitions and the unexpected, Parent/child attachment, Medical trauma and birth anxiety, Postpartum mood disorders in non-birthing partners.

As a registered nurse licensed through the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, it is within Christie’s scope of practice to discuss and educate about medications and other treatments for mental health disorders.
